Western's Off-Campus Housing Service offers Off-Campus Advisor (OCA) positions to students who would like to work in the off-campus community during the 2025-2026 academic year.
Four Team Leader positions are available for the following areas: Newsletter, Social Media, Outreach, and Education.
The Off-Campus Housing Services team strives to provide its students living off-campus a
supportive environment to help succeed in their academic success at Western University. The
Off-Campus Team, comprised of full-time professionals and part-time student leaders, is
committed to providing a supportive, inclusive community for students to live, learn, and flourish.
As a team, we recognize the importance of providing a smooth transition into university and a
healthy off-campus environment.
Functions of the OCA
Be a knowledgeable resource for the community surrounding Western concerning issues, events and activities related to off-campus living
Cultivate opportunities for positive interaction amongst community members
Respond to questions or requests for support that develop in the community (Eg. Bylaws, rental rights, home security etc.)
Promote the use of helpful agencies and community resources
Work with student groups to promote issues important to students living off-campus
Duties of the OCA
Facilitate education and community engagement for students living off-campus.
Participate in semesterly committees to support the overall off-campus mission
Support requests from the City of London in collaboration with the Off-Campus Housing Coordinator (ie. Awareness regarding bylaws, waste management, etc.)
Develop and distribute literature to members in the community as needed
Facilitate regular information booths in common locations across campus for students to easily access an off-campus advisor
Support lease review sessions, and presentations in residence regarding housing searches
On-call one week out of every five
Respond to emails requesting information and/or advice
Attend bi-weekly staff meetings and planning meetings as designated
Attend training and professional development sessions as designated
Conduct events for residence students moving off-campus
Document activities throughout the academic term
Encourage and participate in programs that help students integrate into the community
Terms of Employment
Duration of Contract: August 25, 2025 to April 30, 2026.
Time Commitment: Approximately 12 hours per month
Salary:
New OCAs: $17.20/hr plus 4% vacation pay (pending budgetary approval)
Returning OCAs: $17.63/hr plus 4% vacation pay (pending budgetary approval)
Must attend all training programs, staff meetings and one on ones with direct supervisor.
